This site is my little bit of self indulgence into my favourite hobby: my Vee Dubs.

My addiction took hold about 5 years ago when I bought my first beetle, "Custard", a 1974 1200.  Not surprisingly, it was bright yellow (Fiat Broom Yellow to be exact), and within a week of bringing it home, it had been Christened by my wife & children.  This car was my first venture into VW's & if I'd known then what I know about them now, I'd have probably given it a wide berth, or at least haggled the vendors price tag down a little.  Anyway, such is life, and looking back, I'm glad I bought it, as it's brought me into a brilliant area of interest, that will probably last me for many years to come.

At this point, I guess I should mention my wife, Louise.  She's been amazingly patient with me during the many, many times when my addiction had bitten me hard.  She's not batted an eyelid when I've brought greasy lumps of metal into the living room & sat there all night degreasing them.  Nor has she mentioned all the countless hours spent out on the driveway working on the cars or the more time-consuming task of researching stuff on Volkszone or the Samba.  Nor can I forget the nights of cold turkey when the Great British weather has prevented me from setting foot outside the door to potter about fixing things.  So thank you Lou, for being so supportive & understanding.
